We attended the first ever Cascadia Startup Day conference held by accelerators GrowLab, Invoke Labs, Launch Academy, Spring Activator, and Wavefront. The activators teamed up for day of activities and workshops aimed at growing startups and accelerating the entrepreneurial community.
We spent the day networking and learning with Vancouver, Seattle and Portland area startup companies as well as investors and advisors at the Yaletown Roundhouse on topics of community management, growing pains, idea generation, and the overall execution of digital services in the context of fostering continued growth.
Part of the affair were pitch sessions and a lot of practice for eager, young startups (mostly apps) looking to spin themselves off and make a place for their ideas in the marketplace. It was refreshing meeting and hearing entrepreneurs sell themselves and their potential. Key takeaways included inclusive thought and conversations about the overall user experience and decision making at every level of growth to carry out your vision.
It was overwhelming and inspiring hearing about founders’ stories about the development of business strategies and connecting with a larger community and storytelling in all aspects of your process.
